The Homes

Stonehenge

Patsy and Ronny Turner’s new Wonderland Trail home has been built on the location of the old Maid’s Quarters for the historic Mayview Hotel.  During construction old stone steps and other stones were found on the property and incorporated into the beautiful new approach wall.  Other old materials, like antique beams, mushroom Cypress, wormy Chestnut, and reclaimed Hemlock, have been used in the interior, along with antique lighting fixtures, to give this new showplace the look and feel of having been here for years.

Golden Hill

The Mayview home of Ed Springs and Bo Henderson is a true showplace!  As principals of Edward H. Springs Interior Design in Charlotte, the duo have taken a 70’s contemporary house, gutted and partially demolished it, then built their beautiful “new” home on and around it.  Today, the house, complete with beautifully planted gardens, has the look, beauty, charm and warmth of an old English Manor House!

Green Gates

Gwen and Jon Brady’s older Mayview home started its life as an artist’s studio for an artist who lived nearly.  Two or three additions had been made to the studio before the Brady’s acquired the house four years ago.  It was then remodeled and updated.   With the soaring two-story ceiling of the old artist’s studio making the Great Room, this beautifully decorated house now combines an old-fashioned charm with modern conveniences.

Katydid

From the street, this one-year old home of Katy Thompson Smith and Philip Smith, looks like a story-book cottage. In fact, Katy’s instructions to her architect were to incorporate into the design peaked roof lines and angles to give the house lots of “nooks and crannies.” Katy has decorated the house with taste and flair, and filled the three-story “cottage” with pretty printed fabrics and many antiques.
