Finally, the release of Operation: Tango, a co-op game for two from Friv2Online Studio. We have just returned from a mission to save the world and are ready to provide you with a detailed report.
Operation: Tango is a spy action friv game in which players turn into real super agents, guarding the well-being of a society in the near future . The year is 2038, high technology has pulled humanity into the era of augmented reality, in which smartphones , laptops and even personal computers have completely replaced smart glasses.
In one of the missions, you will find yourself in a crowd of citizens in a moving train and you will be able to watch how they, all without exception in glasses, while away the road swiping pages visible only to them, typing something on virtual keyboards , playing AR games, and in another mission you can visit the office of one of the leading manufacturers of social optics "Nimbus".
In general, most of the gameplay for Angel is built on augmented reality technology - one of the two playable agents that operates on the front lines, while the hacker Fleming tosses and turns in the global network, being somewhere nearby, and sees almost everything that happens through a digital prism.
During one of the tasks, just related to the safety of the personal data of smart glasses users, the partners go on the trail of a certain Cypher, an extremely dangerous cyberterrorist with far-reaching plans. The rest of the campaign will be aimed at finding and capturing the criminal.
Each level in Operation: Tango is a string of puzzles and mini-games that require agents to constantly share information to solve. One always sees only part of the picture and the second has to become the eyes of a partner, or even be completely responsible for his safety. The roles are constantly changing.
Remember those popular laser scenes from heist movies? At one of the levels, Angel will have to pass a deadly corridor, but only Flemming, who has connected to the security systems of the complex, sees the lasers. Do you remember the famous data theft on the cables from Mission: Impossible? Angel will also have to go down, and it will depend on the quickness of the hacker whether she survives.
The puzzles that the agents will face can be roughly divided into repetitive but increasingly difficult reaction mini-games, and unexpected, multi-stage brain puzzles, often accompanied by an aggressive timer. It is they who initiate the release of adrenaline and serotonin, enhancing the collective work of the brain of partners (or provoking their complete stupor).
The first is working with electronic picks, when the hacker and the agent must move the hairpins together and lead the keys to the locks , avoiding a short circuit, or searching for IP addresses in the decoder, when you two control one ball and, bypassing obstacles, send it to the hole.
The second is, for example, work with the stabilization panel in Argentina, which must be done in order to avoid alarm. Each player on the panel has a lot of incomprehensible indicators, arrows, switches, connectors. Both simultaneously receive hints on what their partner needs to click on, and time is strictly limited.
Thus, agents are forced to develop an algorithm on the fly that allows them to communicate the task to another so quickly that he also has time to find its solution. Unfortunately, there are few such extreme tests in the friv game, but even those that exist are undoubtedly worth buying two copies of Operation: Tango.
By the way, the game is quite small. With a leisurely study of levels, entries and interactive items, Operation: Tango is completed in some four hours. However, this is only the first round. By replaying, swinging partners, you will not only get a new visual experience, but also unlock additional achievements on Steam .
If we turn to the problems of the Friv2Online Studio project, then on the technical side, almost everything is smooth. Localization is lame in places, and at the very beginning, my partner and I had a bug due to which progress for completing the first task was not counted for him. I had to replay this level twice more so that we both were finally allowed into the next one.
The appearance of the game is simple, but elegant. The effects of haze, reflections, light sources and charming interior solutions of the designers who drew all these futuristic complexes and objects of mass congestion of people distract from most of the bumps and the overall modest graphics. Operation: Tango is an expressive friv game, but in a very different way.
As for the filling, the project seemed to us as complicated as it should be. My partner and I never had the need to reach for that very button with a hint, but failures happened quite often. Taking into account the availability of the project for different categories of players, in my opinion, Friv2Online Studio found a good balance.
Operation: Tango turned out to be complete and exciting, and the interest during the passage of the campaign did not weaken for a second. I can’t say that the second run when changing heroes is as impressive, but it’s definitely worth looking at the tasks from a different angle.
This is a small friv game , but each of its levels consists of interesting puzzles for logic and reaction, a very cozy graphic style and curious situations. I would recommend Operation: Tango to any fan of cooperative and undemanding friv games, but on the condition that you already have a trusted partner.
